Your options to fund your own Home Care

Depending on your level of government funded home care or if you choose to fund this privately, there are a number of services available to you or your loved ones to remain independent at home. myHomecare was created to provide an easy way to navigate and access the services and support you and your loved ones need to remain independent and stay at home. What care do I need?

The easiest way to determine your level of care is to download the myHomecare getting started checklist. It takes no longer than 5 minutes to complete and is the best way to understand the level of care you may need today.

You can fill this out, email it to us or give us a call once you’ve completed it. From here we will discuss where you’re at in your home care journey and discuss a range of options to help get you started. It’s that simple.

What if I need care now?

Depending on availability in your region, we may be able to support you with interim services through the Government’s Commonwealth Home Support Program or another interim or transitional program. We can even guide you through the option of private services to bridge the gap while you wait. Just call us and we’ll talk you through it, because helping people is what we do every day.

How much does home care cost?

If you choose not to fund your home care package yourself privately, the cost of a government funded home care package depends on your situation, including the type of services you need and your financial situation.

The maximum basic fee is 17.5% of the single person rate of the basic Age Pension. This works out to be $142.38 per person, per fortnight. Every provider has a different policy on the basic daily care fee, it is worth doing your research and understanding how not individual fee structures can be tailored for your situation.

Depending on your income, you may be asked by your service provider to pay an income-tested care fee. This is in addition to a basic fee. To find out more about fees and your options you can see the myHomecare fees section.
